Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Mike Rogers (R-AL), Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, released a statement honoring the fifth anniversary of the creation of the U.S. Space Force.
“The threats facing our nation have only grown more dangerous and more complex in the five years since the creation of the Space Force. As we’ve increased our focus on Space, so have China and Russia. It’s imperative that we ensure America’s continued space superiority. As I outlined in a speech earlier this week, the Space Force needs to not only increase the number of Guardians but also support the development of operators, acquisition, intel, and cyber professionals. I also noted the importance of increased funding and efficient acquisitions, the Space Force is a technology-driven force, our Guardians need an acquisitions system that can move at the speed of innovation. Additionally, it’s vital that we address the over-classification of space, we must ensure the public understands the threats we face and the investments we need to make to mitigate them. We have come a long way in five years and I’m proud of the work we have done. I’m grateful for our Guardians who work around the clock to keep our nation safe.” |
